430i models of the 2023 BMW 4-Series feature a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a horsepower of 255 and 295 lb.-ft of torque. Select the M440i models, which enjoy 382 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque from a turbocharged 3L four-cylinder engine. M4 models come with a twin-turbocharged 3L six-cylinder, cranking out 473 horsepower and 406 lb.-ft. of torque. M4 Competition also has a twin-turbocharged 3L that kicks out 503 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. of torque.

An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard in the 430i and M440i models.
